Twitter Video Downloader

Pull Video Out of a Tweet Before the Thread Gets Deleted

A twitter video downloader saves the media file attached to a public post. X does not offer a save button for other users' clips. Screen recording adds UI chrome and kills quality. Copying the tweet link and pasting it here gets you the actual MP4 X hosts behind the player.

Newsrooms archive press conference clips before accounts get suspended. Sports fans save highlight reels from official team accounts. Researchers stash primary source footage with a date stamp in the filename. Meme pages back up their own uploads before a format dies. The use cases differ; the steps do not.

The platform renamed to X but millions of people still search for twitter video downloader, so this page handles both URL styles. x.com/username/status/123 and twitter.com/username/status/123 point at the same post. Paste whichever you copied from Share.

GIF tweets are really silent MP4 loops. They download like any other video attachment. Image-only tweets will return an error because there is no video stream to fetch. Quote tweets can work if the embedded video is visible on the public permalink.

Compression is aggressive. Do not expect 4K from a phone clip uploaded at 2 AM. You get what X stored, which is usually enough for Slack, Discord, or a PowerPoint slide. For edge cases like deleted tweets or rate limits, see our Twitter and X video download guide.

Multi-platform workflow? The social media downloader switches between TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and X without leaving the site. Vertical short clips with cleaner files often come from the dedicated TikTok downloader when that is the source platform.

Protected accounts and followers-only tweets will always fail. That is not a bug. X hides those streams from unauthenticated requests, and so do we. Public posts from verified news, brands, and your own profile are the reliable targets.

Thread videos can be tricky. If the clip you want sits halfway down a long thread, open that specific tweet in its own tab and copy the permalink. The parent thread URL sometimes points at text only posts without an attached stream.

Desktop Chrome tends to download faster than mobile Safari because file handling is more predictable. That said, saving a thirty second clip on your phone before a flight still beats streaming it twice over airport Wi-Fi.
